The arrival of a desktop app with the same simple drag-and-drop controls, automated highlight edits and music syncing as the mobile Quik app certainly sounds useful, as long as it's a bit more stable than the slightly flaky, old version of desktop Quik. GoPro's move back into software comes as it tries to grow its Subscriber base (which it revealed stands at 2.44 million people, up 27% from last year). The GPS data in newer cameras (HERO8, MAX, HERO9, HERO10, HERO11) is in a format that Quik does not understand, but the files can be converted to make them compatible. Should the GoPro come in a huge box to list the things its not compatible with Or should it just mention the programs it is compatible with on the box. I have watched several tutorial videos on YouTube that show the feature does work, or at least it did at one time. I tested “Quik for Desktop” running on an older Apple iMac desktop computer (Intel) as well as a newer Apple MacBook Air (M1) - the “Adjust Gauges” feature didn’t work on either device. I have NO IDEA why the “Adjust Gauges” feature in “Quik for Desktop” doesn’t work. Am I doing something wrong or is this a limitation of the software. When I connect my GoPro to my PC desktop and load GoPro Quik it only includes the videos in the MEDIA section that were shot in 2.7K. ![]() If you can determine the exact time of each video frame, you can use the exiftool -geotag and -geosync options to read the GPX file and geotag the extracted frames. It’s worth noting the frame grab (shown above) does include EXIF but does not include GPS info for latitude, longitude, and elevation. As you can see by the telemetry “Stickers” shown in the preceding frame grab, Kyle’s video does in fact include GPS data.
